Steinbach Regional Secondary School has some of the top vocational students in the country. Two students won gold medals and two won bronze at the Skills Canada national competition in Edmonton earlier this week. Henry Kasper won gold in car painting and David Messerschmidt won gold in autobody repair. Lia Penner took bronze in IT software solutions and Anja Taranenko got bronze in hairstyling.

Grade 12 Vice-Principal James Gibson says it's a proud accomplishment for the school.

"We've always known we have good programs here but this is just another way to gauge that. Our teachers work very hard to match industry and keep current with trends and, obviously, it's paying off."

Gibson says the students came back very tired, but very happy about how they performed under such intense pressure.
