All five seats at the council table in the Village of St. Pierre are now filled.

Mayor Raymond Maynard along with two incumbent councillors Francine Roy and Paul Gauthier were all acclaimed to council but that still left two empty seats that have now been filled by Raymond Gagne and Paule Peloquin.

Maynard explains a committee was formed, without any members of council, to go through the list of people that had submitted an application and highlight who they thought would best be suited to join council. "They then brought us the list and from there we made our decision. From the top three, we picked two out of the top three."

Maynard says he is excited to work with this group for the next four years.

"I’m thinking that we’ve got a very strong council and I’m thinking that this is going to be a good one where I think we’ll be able to do a lot of good things and we’ll be able to make the town grow and take care of our infrastructure and I’m hoping it will be all good."

He notes Paule Peloquin is the head librarian at the Regional Library in St. Pierre and says she brings a lot of knowledge in the human resources department to the table.

Maynard says Raymond Gagne worked for Nelson River Construction for many years and has a wealth of knowledge in terms of infrastructure which he adds is a huge asset for the town.

The first regular council meeting is next Wednesday and Maynard says they will get right to work looking at getting some drainage issues resolved so they can continue developing the town.
