A 10 year-old girl from Grunthal is in critical condition in hospital following a bicycle-van collision Wednesday night in Grunthal. RCMP report she sustained serious head and other injuries. The collision occurred around 8:40 p.m. at the corner of Park Street and Provincial Road 205 at the east end of the community. They say the girl was wearing a helmet. The girl was rushed to the Health Sciences Centre by STARS air ambulance. RCMP add the 44 year-old driver of the van stayed at the scene and is cooperating in the investigation. They ask any witnesses to contact the St. Pierre detachment.

STARS Air Ambulance was called to a collision involving a car and a bicycle in Grunthal on Wednesday evening.

Grunthal Fire Chief Paul Wiebe says the accident happened shortly before 8:40 p.m.

“The rider of the bicycle is currently in the ground ambulance and will likely be transferred to the STARS air ambulance any minute now. They will likely transport her.”

Wiebe notes the driver and lone occupant of the car was not injured and will not be treated. He adds the collision happened on the corner of Park Street and Provincial Road 205.

Provincial Road 205 was closed of the traffic from Wiens Road up to Main Street while emergency crews attended the injured cyclist.

The investigation is ongoing.
