The Ste. Anne Aces take on the Winkler Royals tonight for the first game in their best of five semifinals in the Southeastern Manitoba Hockey League.

Braden Purtill says the Aces have a good team this season, both on and off the ice.

“When you go down the whole lineup, I think we have confidence in everyone that can go out and play against any team’s top line. I think that’s huge when you want to have a deep play-off run.”

Purtill adds the Aces appreciate the strong community support, which has been noticed by their opponents throughout the season.

The Aces have worked hard at creating a family-friendly atmosphere at the rink, and Purtill notes the children seem to really enjoy the hockey cards they have incorporated into their home games.

“It’s something so small, but for the kids, they love hockey cards and it’s something they can take home with them.”

After playing two regular season games against Winkler this season, Purtill says the Aces know they have their work cut out for them, going up against a strong team with skilled forwards and solid goaltending.
