Violet Moore discovered her father's memoirs in the form of odd scribbles and notes stuffed in a large envelope. After typing and organizing these writings, she printed out a copy for each one of her siblings, and so began her journey to becoming an author.

“When that was finished, it was such a joy!”

Moore had always loved writing, but she wasn't content with just writing news articles for bulletins any longer, and her fellow "Inksters", from her Christian writers club in Steinbach, encouraged her to expand her writing.

She attended her first NaNoWriMo, which is National Novel Writing Month, three years ago at Jake Epp Library in Steinbach, and they motivated her to write her first novel.

“I'm very easily distracted, and so having this goal of writing 50,000 words in one month, you have to be focused to accomplish this.”

Moore went on to publish that first novel entitled, "Charlotte's Rescue". She then wrote her second novel during her second NaNoWriMo, and recently launched the second novel, called "Charlotte On-The-Run", at the Jake Epp library to help kick off this year's National Novel Writing Month.

Moore is working on the third book in her Charlotte series during the current NaNoWriMo currently underway, which she hopes to publish next year.

Moore enjoys the rich environment for writers in Steinbach, and is so thankful for Jake Epp Library's incredible support for local writers. She encourages all writers with hopes of writing a novel or writing project to join NaNoWriMo each scheduled Saturday in November. They provide great motivation and accountability and you don't have to have writing experience to attend.

“This could definitely be a starting point and definitely if you want to have fun writing. All ages are welcome and NaNoWriMo is an opportunity the library offers us, where every week we have three to five hours of straight writing. They provide coffee and there's no fee involved, just bring your own laptop or writing materials. It's wonderful.”
