The head of Steinbach Parks and Recreation says the town is in the process of relocating the pocket park that used to be on the corner of Kroeker Avenue and Main Street.

Russ Dyck says the pocket park is dedicated to the lives of the pioneer couple Cornelius and Katherine Kroeker and was originally built in 1998.

"We are relocating a pocket park that used to be on Main and Kroeker but with the property owner there doing a lot of remedial work on the site, we needed to move that pocket park so it is being relocated to the corner of Elmdale and Kroeker."

Dyck says the new location was chosen so that the pocket park would remain on the original homestead of the Kroeker family. He adds the relocated park will look very similar to the previous one with beautiful benches, the original plaque, some flower beds, and a fence.
