The interior of the Steinbach Cultural Arts Center hasn’t looked this fresh in decades.

That is according to Steinbach Arts Council Executive Director Cindy Rempel Patrick.

THE SCAC entrance has been opened up to give the building a more airy atmosphere“The first phase is completed so we are excited. The entrances, the hallways, the exhibit area, some storage space and the restrooms are completed. We have got three phases and so the next phase is another area of the interior and then it will be the exterior with the learning centre.”

Rempel Patrick says the updated washrooms are a huge blessing. She notes if their research is correct, the old toilets had been in the centre for 72 years before being replaced earlier this summer.

With some much-needed renovations complete, Rempel Patrick says the arts centre has been given new life.

“For the staff and the volunteers and everyone who works at the centre, it's a joy to come in. It's fresh, it is cleaned up and our patrons really enjoy it too. They appreciate when things are in good order and then we can be creative and mess it all up again. The renovations are really important for us to provide quality programming and now we are going to be able to just flourish with that.”

Rempel Patrick notes they are now looking forward to the second phase of renovations which will include expanding the music studios, adding office space, and upgrading the kitchen to keep up with their growing culinary programming.

All of these recent and future upgrades are costly and Rempel Patrick thanks the City of Steinbach and Clearview Coop for helping make them a reality.
