Besides the return of the snowbirds, the robin and potholes, another sign of spring in the southeast are the garage sales.

Recreation Services Coordinator for the city of Steinbach, Dan Taillefer says the TG Smith arena ice has been removed and is once again ready for treasure hunters and garage salers at the Steinbach Community Garage on Saturday.

“So, inside the TG Smith the tables are going to be set up around the boards. So, people will have about 12 feet of space to set up all their stuff to sell.”

Taillefer says having the ability to host the event indoors is a big plus, especially with this one planned for the middle of April.

“So, we find that a lot of events kind of depend on weather. So, it's pretty nice that it's indoors especially from what the temperature is calling for on Saturday. So, yes, we'll be indoors for this, for sure.”

He continues, “we're going to have about 30 or 40 different vendors set up in the arena and people can come and walk around and buy some stuff.”

Taillefer says they will have room for folks deciding to book a spot last minute.

“So, if you decide Saturday morning that you still want a table and you have some extra stuff you'd like to sell, you could still show up at the TG, as long as it's before 8:00 AM, and we'll have a spot for you.”

The cost is $20 per spot and to reserve it call 204-346-6217. People are being asked to bring their own tables.

The Steinbach Community Garage Sale is happening on Saturday, April 20 inside the T.G. Smith arena, 321 Elmdale Street. Doors open to the public from 8am to 2pm, but the building will be open to vendors around 7am.
