The Steinbach Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has changed locations for this year's Remembrance Day service. Past president Bill Richards says they have held the service at the Emmanuel Evangelical Free Church along Mckenzie Avenue for the past few years but with November 11th being on a Sunday, the church was not available.

"Because of the Sunday it was a bit tough to find a venue, but we were able to secure the Pat Porter Active Living Centre. So it will be the venue for this year's service."

Richards says they are thrilled to have local pastor Marc Moir officiating at the service. Moir is known for his play 'Padre X' which tells the story of John Weir Foote, the only Canadian army chaplain to receive the Victoria Cross. Foote volunteered to join the men he ministered to on the disastrous raid at Dieppe. He allowed himself to be taken a prisoner to stay with his fellow soldiers.

Richards says the service starts at 10:45 and he urges people to get there early as they have only about 400 seats.

"I do ask the people to show up a little early. Try to be there between 10:15 and 10:30."

In Niverville, the Remembrance Day Service begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Heritage Centre.

In Lorette, the Remembrance Day Service beings at 10:30 a.m. at Spirit Park.

In St. Pierre, the Remembrance Day Service begins at 10:45 a.m. at the St. Pierre Community Recreation Centre.
