The track at Stonybrook Middle School came in at a higher cost for the Hanover School Division.

Assistant Superintendent Rick Ardies says the division originally committed $75,000 with an additional $25,000 set aside in case the project came in above budget. Ardies notes the additional $25,000 was used with another $75,000 for the infield and track equipment as well as another $37,000 due to unexpected costs.

"The commitment was to make sure the track and surrounding grounds were all done in a way that we could be proud of and that it would serve the school and the community for years to come. So we're very happy with the final result. It looks beautiful."

Ardies says during the day the track already sees use from students walking during recess, on the weekends he has seen the community enjoy the track as well as many track meets in the future. He adds it's a great investment and will be a beautiful facility for many, many years.
