The Rural Municipality of Tache's new office and Public Works building will be open for business on Monday.

It has been constructed at the corner of Provincial Road 206 and Highway 1. Mayor Robert Rivard says on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week their existing office in Lorette will be closed while they make the move northeast.

"We won't have computers, we won't have anything up and running so we won't really be able to offer very many services to the public," says Rivard. "So we will be shut down for the three days."

Rivard says the move for their Public Works staff will happen at the same time. However, he says there isn't as much urgency involved with that move.

Construction started last summer and the original goal was to take possession by the end of March. Rivard says it took a little longer due to a delay in getting hydro and natural gas hooked up.

Once the existing office in Lorette is empty, Rivard says that space will be filled by Thrifty Treasures and the Tache Food Bank. And, as for the old Public Works shop in Lorette, that will become the new home of the Local Urban District of Lorette Public Works.
