The MLA for Steinbach took a tour of a very special young lady's workplace yesterday.

Kelvin Goertzen visited Earl's Meat Market yesterday for Take Your MLA to Work Day. An initiative which celebrates the contributions that Manitobans with disabilities are making to healthy, productive and inclusive workplaces in Manitoba.

Goertzen says Steinbach is such an inclusive community and it’s great to see local businesses welcoming everyone into their business, not just customers, but employees as well.

"I want to thank Teighlor for letting me come into her workplace and show me what she does here at Earl’s Meat Market. It’s interesting to see the job that she does, I hear she does it very diligently, she loves her job, she works hard at it and it’s clear that the employees that she works with love the fact that they get to work with her so that’s a really neat thing."

Goertzen explains Steinbach is a very inclusive community and has been for a number of years.

"We have a really long history here in Steinbach. I remember when I was much younger than I am today working at a place called Penner Foods and some people remember Penner Foods, it was that kind of business as well. They would welcome in people all sorts of people to come and work within the business and be a part of it and be an inclusive community. That has continued on through generations, through different people within the community."

Teighlor Toews has been working at Earls Meat Market for about a year now. She says her normal day at work consists of doing dishes and squeegeeing. Toews adds her favourite part about her job is the nice people she gets to work with.
