A teenage driver has been ticketed for driving his car down a sidewalk in Steinbach earlier this week.

On Tuesday at approximately 3 pm, a 16-year-old male driver from the Rural Municipality of La Broquerie was seen speeding north on Giesbrecht Street. He allegedly ran the stop sign at Reimer Avenue, then made a U-turn and drove south down the sidewalk along Giesbrecht. He was eventually stopped by officers in an unmarked police vehicle.

Steinbach RCMP say the driver was charged $672 for careless driving and $298 for disobeying a traffic control device. He was also issued a serious offense notice and had his vehicle towed.
