A severe thunderstorm hit Steinbach shortly after 4:30 Friday morning dropping about 12 millimetres or half an inch of rain in half an hour. This was part of a line of severe thunderstorms that moved through southern Manitoba. Hail up to the size of golf balls was reported in Winkler, with pea to quarter size hail reported in the Altona region. More than 1.5 inches of rain fell in less than an hour between 3am and 4am in some areas from Morden to east of Altona. In the Zhoda area 2.5 inches of rain and hail was reported as a result of the storm.

The forecast calls for the storms to end this morning leaving behind a partly cloudy sky and a high of 27.
