A local philanthropy group is trying to raise $10,000 in order to make their school a better place. The group is part of the Brokenhead River Community Foundation. In this, their 4th year, they seeded a crop of red spring wheat with donations from local agricultural businesses. Spokesperson Randy Bialek says it's a beautiful crop and will be ready to harvest in about 2 weeks. The group is hoping to raise $10,000 and will use the interest from that money towards projects at the local school. Bialek says this is the only philanthropy group in Canada combining youth with agriculture. |
