Don't let the past couple of days fool you, winter is coming and it's coming fast. A winter storm watch has been issued for most of  southern Manitoba. Rob Paola of Environment Canada notes we can expect an intensifying storm system to arrive throughout the next few days.  Paola says snow poll projections are going to range from a trace-2cm east of the Red River and 5-10cm along western Red River Valley including Portage.  He adds there could possibly be 10-20cm along higher elevations. Paolo notes there will be quite a range but generally more snow as you head west of the Red River Valley. Paola adds the province has issued a high water warning for Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba which could have strong wave action and possible flooding and complications along the west shores of those lakes. He notes it's important people prepared for the first storm of the season, and encourages paying attention to the conditions in your area.
