Woodridge Fire Hall

The Reeve of Piney says the new fire hall at Woodridge is almost ready to go into service. Duane Boutang says they have most of the equipment in place.

"We're 99.9 per cent completed construction. We have a few little electrical details to deal with, otherwise we are 100% complete. We just recently purchased a water tanker from Ontario so we have our three compliments of vehicles, a rescue wagon, a mini pumper and a water wagon, so we're ready to rock and roll."

Boutang says volunteer firefighters are being trained and he expects the Woodridge Fire Hall to be operational by the end of March. He notes this is a big addition for the RM.

"The people of Woodridge, St. Labre and the north part of the RM of Piney are very happy because they've never had fire protection before, it all had to come in from the south. So this provides them quite a bit of relief and that's great"

He also says the Woodridge Fire Hall came in on time and on budget. The Fire Chief in Woodridge is Troy Pestrak. But Boutang notes the RM of Piney is considering a plan to have one chief for its three halls with deputy chiefs at each location.
