The St. Malo Warriors host the Peguis Juniors Friday night in game one of the Keystone Junior Hockey League's best-of-seven semifinal series.

Warriors head coach Ralph Collette knows his team will have their hands full with the Juniors.

"They're a veteran team that's won the championship twice in the past couple of years so they have experience in the playoffs," said Collette. "They're a very offensive minded team and that's where we think we can get some 2-on-1's and have them sleeping a little bit when they're trying to be all offense. They're going to be a very hard team to beat. We've got to be on the top of our game for sure."

Peguis eliminated the Selkirk Fishermen three games to one in the opening round of the KJHL playoffs.

The Warriors swept the Lundar Falcons in three straight in their series.

The Falcons almost stole game one.

Riley Hunter scored in overtime as St. Malo defeated Lundar 5-4.

Falcons goaltender Travis Rigden made 67 saves in that series opener.

"We might have taken them a little bit lightly but because of their hot goaltender we learned our lesson that we have to be on the top of our game," said Collette. "We're a first place team and we have to act like it. Everybody wants to beat you."

The Warriors bench boss adds that home ice could be a huge factor in semifinals.

"It's going to be very, very important," Collette said. "We know that Peguis will have about 2,000 people in the stands for game two on Sunday. It's quite intimidating for some of the guys sometimes because they have such a great following. It's going to crucial. We need to keep home ice for sure because going into their barn won't be easy."
