Residents from the Grunthal area who don’t get recycling pickup will have to bring their recycling elsewhere very shortly.

Hanover Reeve Stan Toews says the large community recycling bin in front of the Grunthal fire hall will be moved in the next few weeks.

"Well the Grunthal recycling bin, they’ve had some abuse there as to people putting garbage there instead of recyclables and Grunthal is not unique in this but the community LUD, they’re all fed up with having to clean this thing out with all the garbage so that thing will be taken away as of June 1."

Toews adds people have been throwing in bags of soil diaper and other non-recyclables which he notes is unfortunate for those who use the service correctly and will now have to drive elsewhere to recycle.

"There will be no more community recycling in Grunthal as of June 1. They can drop recycling off at the Steinbach waste disposal grounds, there’s a recycling depot there as well as Eastman Recycling."

Toews says this will not affect residents of Grunthal who get their recycling picked up at home.
