The RM of Hanover is estimating flooding this spring cost the municipality approximately $75,000.

Reeve Stan Toews says they are hoping to tap into the province's Disaster Financial Assistance program. Last month, the province announced a DFA program for eligible municipalities, homeowners, farms and small businesses impacted by spring flooding.

"We will be applying and see if we are eligible or not," says Toews.

Hanover is reporting 34 damaged sites throughout the municipality.

"Most of that cost would have been spent on gravel where we had to raise a road to keep the water from overtopping," says Toews.

The Reeve says he is hopeful the program will be extended throughout the entire province, noting other municipalities in the southeast also experienced flooding issues.
