Monday is Louis Riel Day in Manitoba which means most businesses will be closed for the day.

Linda Peters is the Executive Director of the Steinbach Chamber of Commerce. She says Monday will be a quiet day for businesses in Steinbach.

"Louis Riel Day is a stat holiday or a general holiday in Manitoba so you will see most businesses closed. It will be very much like a Sunday, restaurants, gas stations, convenience stores will be open but otherwise, most businesses will be closed."

Peters says the Steinbach Aquatic Centre and Jake Epp Library will also be closed on Monday. She encourages families to make use of the warmer weekend weather and spend time outside.

"There are all sorts of things you can do outside, sledding down Abe's Hill or those kinds of things, that is always available and since Louis Riel Day is also called Family Day it is a great opportunity for people to relax, spend some time with family and friends and do something outside."

Peters says though it will be a quiet day for most businesses in Steinbach on Monday, Shoppers Drug Mart is the exception to the rule and will be open from eight to midnight because they are classified as a necessary health service.
