The Pastor for Pansy Chapel says in Biblical times, crowds followed John The Baptist into the wilderness and now it seems people are flocking to the wilderness of Pansy to go to church.

Dylan Barkman says about 180 people come to their church each Sunday morning. He notes they are a thriving congregation that resulted in a 4,000 square foot expansion to their sanctuary in 2014. Their sanctuary now seats 300.

Three years later, another expansion is being planned.

"We are expanding the Sunday School department of our church," says Barkman. "Making some more Sunday School classrooms to accommodate for more kids."

According to Barkman, about 80 kids attend Sunday School at Pansy Chapel. They are looking to add about 1,500 square feet to the north towards the creek. He notes they also need more parking space at the church.

"We're trying to expand our parking space which is also in a bit of dire need to be bigger than it is," he explains.

They have purchased some additional land to accommodate this.

Barkman says he is hopeful they can put shovel in the ground in the coming weeks in order to move into the new space for the start of the new Sunday School year in September.

He notes growth at Pansy Chapel is a combination of couples having kids but also new faces showing up at their church.
