Steinbach Pride has announced they will be holding a march in the city on Saturday, July 15th.

Thousands of people came out to the inaugural event last year and spokesperson Michelle McHale says they are not sure how many to expect in 2017.

"It's hard to know whether we had so many people last year because it was the first one," says McHale. "Whether it was as a result of the elected officials choosing not to take part."

McHale says there was never much doubt that a march would happen this year.

"It was unlikely that we wouldn't have another one," she says. "It's still important because following our event last year we didn't hear apologies from any of the elected officials who chose not to attend."

McHale says last year there was a shortage of washrooms and there were accessibility issues and because of that they are still trying to figure out a location for the July 15th march.
