The third annual Richer Rodeo took place Friday through Sunday.

President Patrick Stolwyck says it continues to grow from 2500 people in attendance the first year to over 5700 and four major sponsors to 17. Stolwyck describes his favourite part of the rodeo.

"My favourite part of the rodeo is this thing where we put a $100 bill on a bulls horn and we ask anybody in the crowd if they've got the jam to go out there and get that $100 bill off it's horn. And you'd be surprised at the people that jump over those boards."

Stolwyck adds another exciting part of the rodeo.

"The wild pony rides. You take a lead and you put it on a pony, he's in the shoot, you open the shoot, the animal comes rushing out, the kids pile on that guy, try to get one kid on it's back and then it bolts and they try to ride it as long as they possibly can."

Meanwhile, Kleefeld had their annual Honey Festival with the Canadian Nation Chili Cook-Off Championship where the winning duo - a father son team called Burning Ring Of Fire - Darryl Mcgarey and Tyler Thurston took home a $2500 prize as well as $1500 for travel costs to get to Florida for the World Championships.

Also, on Saturday at AD Penner Park there was the annual Movie In The Park, this year featuring 'Big Hero 6'.
