Luba Petryk, with Royal LePage and Pam Hadder, Director of Agape House in Steinbach stopped by the AM1250 studio to talk about the fact that they are collecting food and householf items all of this month for Agape House.

Agape House is a charitable, non profit organization funded through a grant from the Provincial Government Department of Family Services, as well as through community donations. As one of 10 women’s shelters in Manitoba, Agape House serves an area that extends North to Beausejour, South to the U.S. Border, West to Winnipeg and East to the Ontario border.

Agape House (Eastman Crisis Centre) began operating in December 1985, out of a three bedroom bungalow, after concerned citizens recognized the need to help families in the Eastman region. In time, the women’s shelter moved to a five bedroom house in Steinbach to facilitate the growing need for services. Today, the shelter has 16 beds, and in an average year sees over 200 clients and responds to over 1,000 crisis calls.

So, the need for items is great. You can listen in to Luba and Pam's conversation with AM1250's Michelle Sawatzky in the AM1250 Audio Vault and get the full story. If you'd like to donate there are 3 different ways to do it: Drop off your items at 185B Stonebridge Crossing (Mona Jodoin Law Corporation Office), call Luba at 204.346.3497 or go to www.gofundme.com and make a cash donation to Agape House.

THANK YOU!!
