It was a step back in time for a dozen kids from Steinbach. Mennonite Heritage Village has wrapped its week long inaugural day camp at the museum. The children took part in hands-on activities such as harnassing horses, feeding the animals, baking biscuits and touring the different buildings. Seven year old Caleb Johnsson says one thing he learned is that pioneers used to tie a pillowcase to one of the windmill sails to announce the birth of a baby. The children at the day camp were dressed as pioneers for the entire week.  Eleven year old Taylor Martens and 10 year old Kayla Dyck say it was fun to try on different clothes but they still prefer their own. Organizers say they will consider holding the camp again in the future.
