A fundraiser is being held on Saturday August 9th at AD Penner Park where all proceeds are going to benefit Southeast Helping Hands and ROC Eastman.

Spokesperson Tiffany Recksiedler explains it's a mixed slo-pitch tournament where ten teams have entered with an entry fee to support two local charities in the community. Recksiedler says there is also a silent auction with many prizes to win.

“We have a camping package, there's a fireplace donated by Barkman Concrete,” answers Recksiedler when asked what the prizes available to win are. “Sport Chek is even bringing along an autographed bat from Brett Lawrie who plays for the Blue Jays, plus some baseball gear, new bags and a lot of gift certificates. So there's a wide variety of prizes that will be very exciting and even I hope I win some.”

Recksiedler adds anyone is welcome to come support the charities and enjoy themselves. She asks everyone to bring non-perishable food items for Southeast Helping Hands and also to participate in the silent auction. She notes they're also planning a home-run derby which anyone is welcome to participate in.

“You can pay five dollars to sign up your name to play in the home run derby and those proceeds will be going to charity as well. So basically just coming out, supporting and having a good time.”
