Andre Carriere was the shootout hero as the La Broquerie Habs defeated the defending Carillon Senior Hockey League champion Steinbach Huskies 3-2 Saturday night at the T.G. Smith Centre.

Twice La Broquerie battled back from one-goal deficits.

Roger Beauchamp scored the Habs first goal of the game on the power play at 14:41 of the middle frame and Rejean Carriere scored with 62 seconds remaining in the third to tie the contest at 2-2.

Adam Loewen and Jon Lawrence replied for the Huskies who saw their record fall to 4-2-0-1.

La Broquerie goaltender Justin Dungey stopped 41 shots including all three he faced in the shootout.

Steinbach netminder John Laninga faced just 16 shots in regulation and overtime.

The Habs have a 5-5 record and are tied with the Red River Wild for second place in the CSHL.

The Ste. Aces hold down top spot at 8-0.
