A man from Blumenort is facing charges following a firearm-related death Tuesday evening. 

At approximately 7:45 PM, police received a report that a firearm had been discharged inside an apartment building on Crestview Lane in Blumenort.  

Officers from the Steinbach RCMP detachment, along with EMS, responded to the call and located a 27-year-old male inside the residence with critical injuries. The man was pronounced deceased on scene. 

RCMP have now charged 43-year-old Cory Jay Davis from Blumenort with Criminal Negligence Causing Death with a Firearm and a number of other firearms-related offences. 

Davis has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Winnipeg on August 4, 2023. 

Steinbach RCMP, along with Major Crime Services, RCMP Forensic Identification Services and RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team, continue to investigate.
