With only a few weeks left in August, soak up the sun and festivities around southeast Manitoba this weekend.

It’s that time of the year. It’s Hanover Ag weekend in Grunthal! It kicks off on Thursday, August 17, and goes until Sunday, August 20.

From the parade to arm wrestling competitions, many festivities are happening on the grounds all weekend long.

Hanover Ag’s Bull Riders Canada Invitational is Manitoba’s largest bull-riding event of the year. Riders will battle in the Hanover Ag Livestock Arena on Thursday and Friday at 7 PM.

There is no shortage of live music either. Headliner Drew Gregory will be joined by Kleefeld native Jason Kirkness and Kendra Kay on Saturday night.

For children and families, the family fun zone has plenty of sights and activities to check out. This includes bouncers, face painting, pony rides and more. Learn what it’s like to be a farmer at Ag on the Moove, an interactive educational exhibit.

Tickets are available online on the Hanover Ag website or at the gate.

We will be in attendance with Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer on Saturday from 1 PM to 5 PM.

While many contests happen on the ground, this upcoming event will be up in the sky.

The third annual Canadian National Aerobatic Championships will be at the Steinbach North Airport. Pilots from across North America will compete in five categories and be judged on their routines.

For spectators, there will be a designated area for viewing and a variety of food trucks. Attendees are encouraged to bring essentials such as lawn chairs, sunscreen and water.

The free admission event runs from 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and 8 AM to 2 PM on Sunday and will wrap up with the awards ceremony.

We will be at the Central Canada Aerobatic Championships with Wendy’s Show Us Your Summer on Sunday, August 20, from 11 AM to 1 PM.
