Provencher MP Ted Falk says 2016 has been a year of mounting concerns about the actions of the Liberal Government. In reflecting on the past year, Falk says he is disappointed in the Liberals for approving big deficit spending plans and also increasing taxes.

"From my perspective, that's been a disappointment. It's really representative of the values that we have here in southeast Manitoba. We're very fiscally prudent here with our money and our perspective on the way we look at finances. We don't typically spend money we don't have and we expect our federal government to do the same thing. Most of the folks I talk to here in Provencher are disappointed with what they see happening at the federal level when it comes to finances."

He adds, what's really sad is that, even with all of the additional spending, there appears to be little improvement in the economy.

Meanwhile, Falk says he has been very busy in his role as vice-chair of the Parliamentary Justice Committee dealing with such legislation as the Bill that allows for physician-assisted dying.

"Recognizing that the Liberal Government has a majority and, at the end of the day they will push through what they decide is important to them, our focus was to try and strengthen the Bill and put as many safeguards in the Bill as we could to protect physicians and institutions who do not wish to participate in this procedure."

Falk says he appreciates the continued strong support he is getting from constituents in Provencher who are encouraging him to stay the course as a member of the Official Opposition to hold the government accountable for its spending and the legislation it is bring in.
