Gord Daman at the announcement of the Open Health medical clinicNiverville Heritage holdings’ plan to put a diagnostics lab and MRI unit in their Open Health medical clinic is still on hold.

The plan was originally introduced in the fall of 2017 as a way to help with provincial MRI wait times, however, it hit a speed bump when the provincial government released with their wait times task force report which suggested no additional MRI units are needed.

Gord Daman is the Vice-President of Niverville Heritage Holdings. He says they are still waiting for a response from the upper levels of the government.

"We have basically placed a fall deadline and we are hoping that we can hear final decision from the province by the end of June to be able to let us know whether it is reasonable for us to proceed in light of where the federal government is in regards to their concerns around the Canada Healthcare Act."

Daman says though there is no more room to expand the Niverville Heritage Centre campus, their plan should still be able to move forward.

"We have room on the site to accommodate the diagnostic centre. Whether that is the original plan that we have or whether we take path B, it will be on campus."
