First Responders in Niverville are going above and beyond.  The group is trying to find ways to keep the program going.  Protective services chair John Funk says initially the service was going to be shut down as of July 1st due to changes in goverment regulations.  However the First Responders in Niverville did not want the community to pay for the new rules so they worked out a schedule for the summer months where they would be providing the service for at least 50 per cent of the time.  In the next while they will also be working on ways to raise awareness of the First Responders program so that they have an easier time recruiting new volunteers come September.
