The 3rd annual Friedensfeld Park Fundraiser Social is all set for Friday at the social hall in Friedensfeld.

President of the Board of Directors Bryan Gerbrandt was on the Country 107 Morning Show Tuesday and said that there's a lot being offered at the event. "We've got door prizes, gifts, baseball swag and more."

Tickets are only $10 and the funds are going back to the diamonds.

Friday night is the kick-off to a weekend of events being held at the diamonds. "Friday night is the social and we've taken advantage of the weekend slowpitch playoffs," Bryan said via a phone call. "Over the past three years, we've seen benefits of running a fundraiser while all the players are there. We're fundraising for park upgrades."

The funds will be going back to the diamonds as Bryan explained. "It's for maintenance. We want to make sure everyone is safe. The fences have been there for 25 plus years and there's been some wear and tear with over 70 teams playing in Friedensfeld, they've taken a beating. We just take one step at a time and try and knock down some of the maintenance that needs to be done so it'll go mostly to fences and make the park look good."

Bryan's been there for four years now and he's been pleasantly surprised just how many people from the Southeast are playing slowpitch. "When I got on, there was only a handful of teams and now there are 60 plus teams in slowpitch and 4 in hardball. It's amazing to see the community come together and the park looks great because of it."

With all the action expected this weekend, Bryan was quick to acknowledge the people behind the scenes. "We've got great volunteers and with all the work we put in throughout the year, it helps us prepare for that. All the preparation leading up to the weekend helps. There's a lot of hours that go into it and we have great volunteers that make it all worth it."
