The slate of candidates for Hanover School Division trustee in Steinbach keeps growing. Danielle Funk, a wife and mother of two young children, has announced she is running in the election this fall. She explains how she developed a great interest in educational leadership while attending post secondary school.

"I graduated from Red River College two years ago in Business Administration and I got really involved there. I joined the Student Association as President and I got to spend a year on the Board of Governors there and it really piqued by interest in education at all levels. So, I saw an opportunity now (to run for trustee) and thought I should take a chance."

Funk says one area where she'd like to contribute is in more individualized learning to suit the student. For example, she notes the Alternative Education Program has done some great things in Hanover and she would like to see it taken further. Funk says Hanover is a good division and believes she has some new ideas that would make it even better.

"I think I can put in some different perspectives. I'm fairly young and I have lots of new ideas."

There are now at least eight candidates running for the four school board seats in Steinbach.
