If your gas tank is running on empty, you could be in for quite a shock when you visit the gas station.

The cost of regular gasoline has jumped about 20 cents per litre since Friday.

Early on Monday, many gas stations in Steinbach were still selling regular gasoline for 165.9 cents per litre.

However, regular gasoline is now selling for about 186.9 cents per litre, which is still well below the high experienced this summer. In June, prices topped 207 cents per litre at many stations in southeastern Manitoba.

One year ago today, gas was selling for about 130 cents per litre in this part of the province.

According to GassBuddy.com, Alberta is the province with the lowest average regular gasoline prices right now at 142 cents per litre while British Columbia has the highest average prices at 204 cents per litre. Manitoba is sitting at 170 cents per litre on average as of 5 P.M. Monday.
