Two Hanover fire departments battled a house fire near Blumenort late Sunday afternoon.

The 911 call came in at 4:40 as a structure fire along Road 31E about one and a half miles north of Provincial Road 311. The New Bothwell Fire Department was initially called and Kleefeld District Fire Chief John Schroeder says they were immediately called for mutual aid. He notes it appears the fire started near the back side of the house and adds it was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived. Schroeder says nobody was home when the fire started. Shortly after the fire broke out, he notes a neighbour pulled the homeowner's semi truck away from the house to save it from getting burnt as well.

Schroeder says the Office of the Fire Commissioner has been called to determine the cause of the fire.
