A severe thunderstorm system rolled through and hit the entire southeast region Tuesday morning sweeping in from northwest of Winnipeg.

An ominous shelf cloud preceded a short, yet intense downpour in Steinbach shortly after 8:30 AM. According to the Manitoba Agriculture service, 7.5 mm of rain fell in Steinbach.

St. Adolphe received the most rain in the region with 17.3 mm falling over the course of about a half hour. Both Dugald and Stead received just over 10 mm and most other communities in the area got somewhere between 5 and 10 mm.

There have also been reports of small hailstones falling just east of Winnipeg, however, this was seen throughout the whole region. 

With the storm passed, residents can now expect hot, muggy weather with forecasts calling for around 30 degrees with a humidex of 38 degrees Tuesday afternoon.
