Eden East Mental Wellness Centre in Steinbach is putting on a fundraising concert this weekend.

Director of Eden Foundation, Jayme Giesbrecht, says they are leaning into gospel for this concert.

“I grew up doing so many gospel concerts and being at gospel concerts, I love the tradition in our Mennonite communities, and I just want to get that feeling again of a good gospel fundraising concert.”

They will also have some special guests.

“The New Covenant Quartet, they are top notch. I would say one of the greatest quartets that southern Manitoba has to offer. They will be doing the bulk of the show, they're closing the concert.”

Giesbrecht herself will be singing along with pianist Jonathan Alexiuk.

“He’s fantastic. He plays on cruise ships, and that man can just fly on those keys. He's so gifted.”

They also will have Kim Thiessen and Darryl Neustaedter Barg, along with John Ginter on the violin.

“Kim Thiessen, such a smooth alto voice, and she is the Director of the Recovery of Hope counseling program through Eden.”

Fundraising won’t be through tickets, but through a free-will offering.

“I'm going to share a bit of information about the work that Eden does, especially coming right here out of Eden East. This is a very specific hub of Edens, and we have great programs running that we would love for people to utilize if they need.”

The fundraising concert is at Grace Mennonite Church in Steinbach on Sunday, March 17th. Doors open at 2:30pm and the concert will start at 3:00pm. Rush seating. Entry is free.
