Environment Canada continues to track two weather systems expected to hit southern Manitoba this weekend.

Natalie Hasell says the first is a low pressure system that is currently over Alberta and Saskatchewan. It could reach Steinbach by early Saturday morning. This system should bring snow and wind, creating reduced visibility.

The second system is much larger of the two. It is a Colorado Low that has yet to form but is expected to land in Steinbach mid to late Sunday. Hasell says it will bring prolonged periods of heavy snow, strong winds and blowing snow, which will reduce visibility. The system could stick around into Tuesday.

"It would be a good idea to consider rescheduling if you have to be on the road between now and Tuesday," suggests Hasell. "It does not look very nice at all."

Hasell says total snowfall amounts for the two systems should be between 15 and 30 centimetres for Steinbach. Areas further west, such as Riding Mountain National Park could see a lot more snow.

According to Hasell, there is a risk that some precipitation will fall as rain or freezing rain. The snow itself will be dense and heavy.
