There will be a new reeve in the RM of De Salaberry after the election next month. Marc Marion has announced he will not seek re-election after serving for one term as reeve and 12 years as a councillor. He explains why.

Marc Marion" I've been on council now for 16 years, which is more than one-third of my adult life. I think there's a lot of interest in the community on where we're going so I've decided to give the wheel to someone else."

Marion says there have been many highlights over the years including improved financial accountability for the RM, reconstruction work on Provincial Road 303 and a rise in the population. He outlines some of the things the next council will need to work on.

"One of the big things that we were working on is a new building for the RM of De Salaberry. I'm hoping that the new council will focus on that and where it's going to be located. Hopefully, it will be affordable for the citizens of this area. And, just seeing the communities continue growing and hoping that we focus on development, making sure that we handle the growth in a responsible way."
