The developer of Parkhill Place in Steinbach is thrilled with the announcement of a new school for Steinbach.

The province announced on Thursday that a new elementary school is now in the design phase and will be built in Parkhill Place, which sits between McKenzie Avenue and Abe's Hill.

"The announcement is exciting," says developer Waldo Neustaedter with Century 21 Gold Key Realty in Steinbach. "I know the community and the neighbourhood that we've already started developing in that area, it's a lot of young families there and it will be just very welcome news."

in that development.

"It will," he says. "It will create a renewed enthusiasm for the area. The area is great, it's vibrant."

Neustaedter says placing a school in the heart of Parkhill Place only makes sense. He says there are so many young families living there and serves as a diverse catchment area for both the nearby high school and middle school.

"(It) will just make it a really nice attractive place for people to put their roots down and enjoy their home in that area," he says.

According to Hanover School Division, the new school should be operational within four years.
