Steinbach and Sprague RCMP together stopped 111 vehicles in week three of their holiday checkstop program.

There were no impaired drivers found, however, Steinbach RCMP had one alcohol-related administrative suspension and Sprague RCMP had three Highway Traffic Act warnings. In the first three weeks of the program Steinbach RCMP have stopped more than 12-hundred vehicles, catching two impaired drivers.

Meanwhile, RCMP across the province stopped 1733 vehicles in week three of the program. 17 people were charged with either impaired driving by alcohol or driving with a blood alcohol level over .08. Through three weeks of the program there have been 72 such charges.

In week three there was one person who was charged with impaired driving by drugs, three refused a breathalyzer, and there were eight alcohol or drug-related administrative roadside suspensions. The highest blood alcohol reading reported was 3.5 times over the legal limit.

There have also been two traffic-related fatalities during the holiday checkstop program.
