A letter shared to social media that was intended for a handful of local business owners has stirred up concerns of possible charges to customers for parking in Steinbach's downtown area.

Mark Budala from Solomon's Furniture and Appliances says they have never charged their customers to use their parking lot and they don't intend to. He says Solomon Budala purchased the Solomon's Furniture building as well as the Shoppers Plaza Mall, the parking lot all the way up to Main Street, all the way to Earl's Meat Market, as well as the drive to Reimer Avenue behind Earl's Meat Market.

"It's a very big parking lot, and at this point, we definitely don't need all of the parking stalls. We are very happy to have other businesses using that parking space, as long as arrangements are made and the cost of maintenance can be shared, because it does cost money to have a parking lot like this."

Budala says the intent behind the letter was to have nearby businesses who do not pay any lease fees for their property, but use the parking lot for themselves and their customers, to share in the cost of maintenance.
