Jeff Penner has signed a qualifying offer from the National Hockey League's Minnesota Wild. The 24-year old Steinbach native recorded four assists in 10 games with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros after the Wild acquired him from the Boston Bruins along with winger Mikko Lehtonen in exchange for goalie Anton Khudobin on February 28th. Penner had five goals and 14 assists and was a plus-10 in 57 games with the AHL’s Providence Bruins last season. The 5-foot-10, 185-pound defenceman added four assists in five Calder Cup playoff games with the Aeros.
