Motorists driving near Carrick will want to take note of a railway crossing closure that takes effect starting Friday. This is the result of last week's train derailment.

According to a statement from CN Rail, the incident happened Friday, January 13th. The derailment involved 17 cars and one locomotive.

"There were no fires, injuries or exposures reported," read the statement. "The incident posed no danger to public safety."

The cause of the incident remains under investigation. 

There is no word on what was being transported in those cars.

According to CN Rail, train movements have resumed at the site. Cleanup is still ongoing.

Meanwhile, the CN Rail crossing at Road 62E will be closed beginning Friday, January 20th at 8 am until repairs are complete. Repairs may take several days.
