A resident of Powerview-Pine Falls was arrested this week after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a landlord-tenant dispute.

On Wednesday at approximately 6:45 pm, Powerview RCMP officers responded to a residence along Poplar Street in Powerview-Pine Falls after being notified of the dispute.

Officers arrived on scene and observed a male and female loading up a vehicle with their belongings. In speaking with the 27-year-old male, officers observed illicit cannabis in plain view in the vehicle. The male was placed under arrest, and upon his search, an additional quantity of dried cannabis was located and seized.

A search of the suspect and vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 94 grams of cannabis, which is 64 grams more than an individual is legally allowed to possess in Manitoba, 69 grams of cocaine in a vacuum sealed bag, drug related paraphernalia and a loaded handgun.

Twenty-seven-year-old Charles Lawrence Guimond, who is currently prohibited from possessing a firearm and also on two undertakings with conditions to not possess firearms, was remanded into custody on numerous drug and firearms-related charges for a court appearance scheduled Friday in Winnipeg.

The 23-year-old female was released without charge.
