The Hanover, Seine River, Border Land, Red River Valley and Border Land School Divisions along with Steinbach Christian School have all cancelled classes today due to dangerous driving conditions in blowing snow. Hanover Superintendent Randy Dueck says they made the call at 7:00 a.m., noting he prefers to give more notice but the stormy weather only arrived around 6:45 a.m.

Highway #52 is closed west of Steinbach, Highway #59 is closed as are Highways #1, #2 and #3 west of Winnipeg.

A Blowing Snow Advisory is in effect. A brief, fast moving weather disturbance is causing near zero visibility in wind gusts this morning. The forecast calls for winds to gust up to 80 kilometres per hour this morning and early afternoon before slowing to 20 KM/H.

There is also an Extreme Cold Advisory in effect with the wind chill expected to be near -41 today and near -42 tonight.
