RCMP report the 6-year-old child is now in serious but stable condition.

A six-year-old boy is in critical condition in hospital in Winnipeg following a two-vehicle collision Thursday evening on Highway #52 at PR 216, just north of Kleefeld.

RCMP report it happened at 5:40 p.m. when a small westbound car, driven by a 26-year-old female from St. Malo attempted to turn south onto PR 216 and came into the path of an eastbound vehicle driven by a 23-year-old female.

The 26-year-old woman was transported to hospital in Winnipeg by ground ambulance with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Her six-year-old son was transported by STARS to hospital in Winnipeg and remains in critical condition.

The 23-year-old woman was transported to hospital in Steinbach with minor injuries.

St. Pierre RCMP continue to investigate.
