Mark Scheifele and Pierre-Luc Dubois scored in the shootout and David Rittich made 27 saves as the Winnipeg Jets defeated the Seattle Kraken 3-2 at Canada Life Centre. Dubois and Blake Wheeler scored in regulation for the Jets who have won three in a row and will start a four-game road trip Thursday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.


The Brandon Wheat Kings gave up four unanswered third period goals and lost 7-5 to the Swift Current Broncos at Westoba Place. Brett Hyland had a pair of goals for the Wheat Kings while the rest went to Nate Danielson, Dawson Pasternak and Anthony Wilson. Calder Anderson chipped in with three assists.


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed free agent receiver Kenny Lawler to a two-year contract. Lawler played 12 games with the Edmonton Elks in 2022 and caught 58 passes for 894 yards and five touchdowns. He played on the Blue Bombers Grey Cup championship teams in 2019 and 2021 before signing with the Elks.


The Winnipeg Goldeyes announced that Amos Ramon will return as hitting coach for the 2023 American Association season and that Tom Thornton will serves as the ball clubs pitching coach, Ramon will be entering his second full season on the club’s coaching staff, having assumed his current role in August of 2021. He is one of only nine position players in Goldeyes history to appear in five or more seasons with the team. Thornton joins the Goldeyes after having served as the Gary SouthShore RailCats pitching coach the past three seasons, including the 2020 and 2021 campaigns under new Winnipeg manager Greg Tagert.


The Niverville Nighthawks have 13 games left in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League's regular season schedule. Nighthawks head coach and general manager Kelvin Cech will join Clayton Dreger on Sportsbeat which airs Wednesdays at 5:15 p.m. on AM 1250 Radio.
